

Charles J. Pickard, AIA, principal with CM Design has 10-years experience with downtown renovation and neighborhood revitalization projects. His career and education have focused on preservation and the adaptive reuse of historic structures. Mr. Pickard has acted as Project Manager, Designer, and Construction Administrator of a multitude of renovation projects ranging in size from commercial tenant infill in an historic department store to the renovation of an historic warehouse into residential and commercial units to the façade stabilization of a 29-story historic skyscraper.
Mr. Pickard is experienced in working with the National Park Service on Historic Preservation Certification Applications and coordinating with local preservation organizations to achieve historically sensitive design solutions. He won the Tennessee Historical Commission's Award of Merit in 2001 for his work in the South Main Street and South Bluffs Warehouse Districts in Downtown Memphis, Tennessee. Projects in these districts included coordination with the Tennessee Historical Commission and submittal of applications for Historic Tax Credits to the National Park Service. In 2002, Mr. Pickard's projects won the Residential Rehabilitation Award and the Special Achievement Award from the Memphis Landmarks Commission/Memphis Heritage Inc.
