The Lowenstein Building, named by the original owner and constructor, B. Lowenstein and Brothers, is a beautifully detailed, late 19th century former department store, which will be developed into approximately 80,000 square feet, including ground floor retail and apartments above. The building has a timber and cast iron superstructure, with brick, limestone and cast iron façades made with true craft execution in 1886. Decorative Terra Cotta features distinguish the building in Memphis.

The Lowenstein facades will be carefully restored to near original high quality detail, with windows either replaced with replicas, or, in some cases where operable windows are desired, slight modifications will be proposed to the existing frames and patterns of mullions.

The new apartments of Lowenstein will feature ceiling heights ranging from 17‘ (2nd floor), to 13‘ (4th, 5th floors). The spacious lifestyle layouts and unusual window openings will bring a new dimension to the urban residential setting in Memphis.

Leasing of Lowenstein Apartments projected to begin August 2008.
